(Wei Ping Au, Ngai Ping Ngo)
Actor
The late Wei Ping Ao is most famous for his role as the interpreter 'Wu' in Fist of Fury (1972).
Though the character was secondary to the main Japanese villain, Wei's rendition of the
annoying, cruel Chinese who sells out his nationality to earn the favor of his Japanese
oppressors was even more memorable.
Even though Bruce Lee could have easily snapped him in half, the cowardly, selfish Wu
proved to be one of Lee's most formidable screen enemies, and Wei played a similar
character in Lee's follow-up film, Way of the Dragon later the same year.
He reprised the role over the course of his career in some variation or another in various
cash-in flicks following Lee's death starring imitators such as Bruce Li.
Wei Ping Ao also starred in the over the top reptile disaster movie Calamity of Snake,
playing the slimy assistant to a greedy developer.
