                                     When Paulyn Sun won the Miss Singapore Universe Pageant in 1994, she quit her       

                                      job in business development to launch a career as an actress in Hong Kong. She 

                                  debuted in Stephen Chow's Sixty Million Dollar Man, and by 1996 she was offered

                                    HK $20 million to pose nude, which she rejected. Four years later she changed her

                                   tune and not only stripped down, but performed graphic sadomasochistic sex scenes

                                       in Takashi Miikes's bloody opus Ichi the Killer; touted as the most violent and

                                                                gory movie in the history of Japanese cinema.

                                    Despite the attention getting effort, reaction to Paulyn's film work has been relatively

                                  lukewarm in relation to her better known female peers. Meanwhile, her friendships with

                                   several freewheeling Hong Kong business moguls have often captured more attention 

                                                                              than her showbiz career. 

 

                                          Paulyn starred in the sequel to The Untold Story with Anthony Wong as a

                                              sexed up woman who butchers people and serves them up for barbecue.

                                   In 1997 she became the first female from Singapore to be nominated for a Hong Kong 

                                     Film Award for her role as Tony Leung Ka Fai's wife in Island of Greed. In 2000 

                                      she played the wife of Tony Leung Chiu Wai in Wong Kar Wai's award winning

                                         In the Mood For Love, featured at Cannes, though most of her scenes didn't

                                       make it to the final cut. Paulyn's efforts to further her career have not waned. She

                                     has busily filmed serials for both TVB and ATV, endorsed beauty products, and, for

                                                   some reason, picked up an alternate English name- Alien Sun.
