(Lam Kin Ming, Lin Jian Ming)
Actress, TV Host
Height: 5'4 Weight: 100 lbs.
Languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, English
One of Hong Kong's more outlandish female celebrities, Meg Lam made her starring film
debut by shaving her head and appearing nude in the prostitute drama Bald-Headed
Betty (1975). She directed and starred in her own film, Torrid Wave, in 1982, an effort she
was so dissatisfied with that she bought the film out entirely and hopes to have every
existing copy destroyed.
In 1989 she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film
Awards for her role in the somber prison drama The First Time is the Last Time.
Recently Meg Lam has concentrated mostly on television but is as visible as ever in
Hong Kong entertainment circles as a performer and master of ceremonies.
At the 1999 march against piracy in Hong Kong, Meg led the protest with other prominent
film industry members such as Tsui Hark, Jackie Chan, Simon Yam and Tony Leung
Ka Fai. She has also been recognized for her volunteer work and has started an organization
dedicated to mental illness prevention.
