Lo Meng
(Lo Mang, Law Mong)
Actor
Lo Meng (Lo Mang) was among the stable of classic Shaw Brothers actors utilized by
famed director Chang Cheh. He remains most celebrated for his films with the kung fu
collective known as "the Venoms", a group of performers who starred in a number of
classic martial arts movies. In their signature film, Five Venoms (1978) (retitled in America
as Five Deadly Venoms), Lo Meng played the defiant muscleman 'Toad'.
Lo Meng's ripped physique, one of the most impressive of any of his peers, has
tended to supercede his other qualities. Still, Lo has managed to exhibit his forté
for comedy over the years in non-martial arts films, and has remained active in
Hong Kong entertainment as a bona fide actor in Hong Kong television
and periodic film roles.
