Evelyne Kraft
(Evelyn Kraft)
Actress
Swiss B-movie actress Evelyne Kraft was recruited by Shaw Brothers to star in two
of the studio's 1970's projects aimed at the international market.
Evelyne joined Shaw Brothers starlets Shaw Yin Yin, Dana and Kim Ching Lan to
form a multi-racial group of fighting females in The Deadly Angels (1977). Taking its
inspiration from the Charlie's Angels TV series, the film was a precursor to the Charlie's
Angels Hollywood feature film made over 20 years later under the action direction of
The Deadly Angels cast member Yuen Cheung Yan. U.S. audiences got to see
Evelyne kick butt in tight cut-off jeans when The Deadly Angels was released
theatrically there.
One of the Shaw Brothers' most expensive productions, The Mighty Peking Man
was unleashed in 1977. This Hong Kong version of 'King Kong', was helmed by veteran
director Ho Meng-Hua. Clad only in tattered animal skins, Evelyne Kraft played the
luscious amazon woman who befriended the giant ape, acting opposite Danny Lee
as his jungle girlfriend and Ku Feng as a greedy opportunist.
The Mighty Peking Man was released in America under the title of Goliathon.
20 years later, Quentin Tarantino unearthed the cult favorite for a limited theatrical release.
Long retired from acting in European movies, today Evelyne Kraft is a wife, mother, and
successful president of a major construction company with primary business interests
in Nigeria.
